Joy God Does Not Approve Of
By Janna Bailey
There is a joy that God does not approve of!
What do I mean?
If we rejoice or are joyful when an athlete from a team we dislike is severely injured, or somebody we dislike becomes ill; this is a joy that is an insult to God. When we behave unmercifully– we fail to exhibit, loving kindness, compassion, gentleness, goodness, or empathy towards the person who is ill or injured. We are then dabbling in the work of the flesh. Namely- hatred. It is imperative that we exhibit loving kindness, mercy, empathy, and compassion. We also need to pray for the person who is ill or injured; and ask God or Jesus to lead that person to the Saving grace of Jesus Christ just in case that person is unsaved.
Amen. This is so true. What you are talking about is a truly converted heart. Jesus said, “A person who is forgiven much, loves much.” Therefore if you are a Believer and you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior, then you have been forgiven much. In response, if you truly were converted then you will also love much. You will not “Applaud” even when tragedy falls on your enemy.
Father Talk,
While watching football games I have seen quarterbacks lying on the ground after being slammed to the ground and the DT and DE were celebrating. I thought that was crass and still do. I have heard people celebrating about women being injured; because they married the wrong man in the celebrating person’s unhumble opinion. Thank you for your compliments.
You are right. I believe having this kind of mentality will give us a new perspective when watching sports. I used to want to see good players get injured so when my team plays against them they loose and I now know this is totally wrong. Thank you for the revelation. I really appreciate it!
