Enter Into His Rest

By Lover of Words

For he that is entered into his rest, he also have ceased from all his own works, as God did from his (Hebrews 4:10). Let us labor therefore to enter into his rest (Hebrews 4:11a). What is the work of God? Answer: That you believe on him whom he sent (Jesus Christ).

In 200l, I experienced a very trying year. I lost my job at Delta Airlines and all of my savings were exhausted. I found out that the son, I thought I had, was not mine. Jesus truly was strong when I was weak. He carried me the whole trip because I was not able to carry myself.

To make a long story short, I got a job at a local cell phone company through a contracting agency. The job paid me $36,000 dollars in 7 months. I then was laid off after I had prayed, fasted, and believed. I know Jesus was always pleased by faith, but when I still got laid off after I had done all that, I thought my faith had failed. I received unemployment for about 8 months and I didn’t even look for a job.

My mother, father, brother, and whole family thought I was crazy. They said you are not going to find a job sitting on your butt. They didn’t know that I was working…my work was believing God for a job, by faith. It takes courage to wait on God. I knew that God had given me the job at Delta and he had given me the job at the cell phone company, so if he wanted me to have a job, he would give me one. Suddenly my miracle came.

June 10, 2002, Jesus had my old boss, from the cell phone company, call me back based on a recommendation from a co-worker who I thought hated me. My boss asked me if I wanted to work and I said yes. My faith was made even stronger than before because God had not forsaken me. I lived better when I wasn’t working than I did while I was. Life is much more abundant when you allow Jesus to take care of you.

I took my brother out on his 21st birthday and spent $1000.00. God had blessed me with $2500.00 from my tax return. I received more than I had ever received from a tax return, that year. The funny thing is that I only worked 7 months. With God you receive more for less. “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” (Luke 6:38) Oh, I almost forgot….I am a tither and a giver!
