I Am A Christian Man

By Cornell Ngare

The Christian man is Christ in a man, not superman…

This is me:

This man is human, it means I stumble and fall,
This man is flesh, sometimes I crave and doubt,
This man is careless; sometimes I lose my way,
This man is curious; sometimes I poke and pry,
This man is sensitive; sometimes I shed a tear,
This man is fragile, sometimes I break down,
This man is not flawless, sin knocks on my door too,
This man is not emotionless, my heart breaks too,
This man is not blameless; guilt still crowns my ego,
This man is not perfect; mistakes still stain my path,
This man is not psychic; mind-reading is not my hobby,
This man is slow; sometimes I need to understand,
This man is wavering; sometimes my faith needs a lift.

So when you are down and distraught,
Don’t expect me to read your mind,
When you long for the moon,
Don’t expect me to turn to superman,
Speak to me, and you can count on my understanding,
Ask of me, and you can count on my help,
Confide in me, and you can count on my trust,
Lean on me, and you can count on my strength,
Kneel with me, and you can count on my prayers.
Forgive me when I forget dates; I prefer making them,
Pardon my love of football; I am just not into shoes,
Understand my hate of shopping; it’s just not my hobby,
Excuse my roughness; I am still wrestling with my ego,
Bear my selective amnesia; I can’t remember why its bad,

Yet…

THIS MAN IS A CHRISTIAN,
THIS MAN IS A CHILD OF THE MOST HIGH,
THIS MAN IS A PRAYING MAN,
THIS MAN LOVES GOD,
THIS MAN IS NOT ASHAMED TO FEEL,
THIS MAN DOESN’T HIDE HIS TEARS

But there’s something that sets me apart,
A truth that rips me away from other men,
Jesus Christ has snatched me from this world,
So, please don’t look at me in light of the world,
Don’t judge me by the standards of worldly men,
Don’t compare me with your past mistakes,
Don’t write me off as an impending headache,
Because such an attitude stands in my way,
Such a notion trips my faith and crushes my will.

This man will forsake ego, to put a smile on your face,
This man will sharpen his vision, to make your future bright,
This man will protect your dreams, and feed them to life,
This man will trample on his pride to hold your hand,
This man will go shopping, because he loves you; not shoes,
This man will floss to Jesus Christ about you,
This man will seek mentorship, to love you right,
This man will embrace accountability, to protect your heart,
This man will scour the Word, to tell you all the right things,
This man will forsake popularity, to hide your shame,
This man will scar His knees, to present you daily to God.
This man is a Christian,

THIS MAN WILL LOVE YOU LIKE CHRIST. ?
