The Salvation Of A Hypocrite

By Cornell Ngare

As Christians, we don’t always need to travel across borders to find souls in need of Christ,
Sometimes we don’t even need to step out of our houses to witness,
But more often than not, we don’t even need to leave our solitary bed to find a lost soul,
Yes, more often than not, Christians need to hear the gospel more than non-Christians,
Because most of us are simply strutting cloaks of empty religion,
I know this… I was the front runner::

I put the hype in hypocrite,
I had the eloquence but not the Elohim,
I had the words but not the Word,
I had the art but not the heart,
Moved like God but wasn’t moved by God,
I praised God like Christians, but didn’t praise God and like Christians,
Preached & discussed fellowship but impeached & despised the fellow sheep.
A church goer who wasn’t a church grower,
A prayer worrier not a prayer warrior,
Heard the Word but seldom had the Word,
Had the Word at my fingertips but not my heart,
I had the head knowledge of faith, yet had no knowledge of the Head of my faith.
Claimed to be a friend of God but didn’t know how to be a friend to God.
A master of disguise, disguised as the Master’s.
A hell-bent soul, preaching a heaven-bound message,
I was a chest-thumping, bible-quoting, pew-warming, praise-quipping heathen.
A lie-lyricist, fame-fascist, sin-stylist, hypocrisy-hypist Christian,

A MATTHEW-condemning, MARK-timing, LUKE-warm, and a JOHN-doe gospel preacher,

Proclaiming the double-edged sword yet living a double-minded life.
Then one day…

(Isaiah 6:1-8)
I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.
3 And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Then the LORD turned me around to face my audience,
He equipped me with His Word and sent me,
I was excited to be His chosen ambassador,
But first I was sent before the mirror.
For my first mission was the most important,
My first mission was to myself.
