You’ve Been Mobilized

They also captured Lot—Abram’s nephew who lived in Sodom—and carried off everything he owned. When Abram heard that his nephew Lot had been captured, he mobilized the 318 trained men who had been born into his household. Then he pursued Kedorlaomer’s army until he caught up with them at Dan. There he divided his men and attacked during the night. Kedorlaomer’s army fled, but Abram chased them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus. Abram recovered all the goods that had been taken, and he brought back his nephew Lot with his possessions and all the women and other captives. -Genesis 14:12,14-16 NLT

God totally ministered to my heart this morning through Genesis 14:12,14-16. When Lot was captured by the enemy, Abram took action to rescue him and bring him back. He didn’t let him fend for himself. He didn’t leave him in captivity. He didn’t say, “But that’s none of my business.” He devised a plan and took action to deliver his loved one from the enemy. And get this, he not only got Lot back with all his possessions, but he got everything that had been taken!

I can only speak for myself when I say in the past I ignored some of my family members’ need for help. Some of it was out of ignorance, not being taught better, and some was because I felt it was none of my business. But they are family and family is my business. So over the years I’ve learned to go to war for my family. Some battles have been fought in person, but most have been fought in prayer; but not just my prayers alone but by prayer warriors who rallied with me to fight for my loved one.

I think about the life of Moses and how as a baby he was supposed to be killed with all the Hebrew baby boys born around the same time as he was. But the Bible says in Exodus 2:2 that his mother hid him for three months after which she placed him in a basket on the Nile River. But get this, his sister was watching at a distance and followed. If you read the rest of Exodus 2 you’ll see that Pharaoh’s daughter ended up raising Moses and his sister and mother hand a hand in his upbringing.

You may be asking, “Well what does this have to do with interceding for family?” Everything! You see, Moses’ mother didn’t just sit by and let her baby be killed by the enemy. She took action to save his life. Her actions not only saved his life, but led him to his destiny. She was a part of God’s plan for his life in the same manner that you are a part of God’s plan for your family members’ lives. You’re called to intercede for them through prayer and action. They need you. Don’t sit idly by watching the enemy take them and destroy their destiny. Mobilize! Go get your family back! You are family for a reason. Family sticks together and fight for one another. They don’t let each other fall or fail. They don’t let each other be destroyed. They war together and they win together.

Pray this prayer:
Lord, help me take action and not just sit on the sidelines watching as the enemy capture my loved ones. Give me a strategy and the grace to go fight and win them back. All for Your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
